Bryan Chassard

STAFF PASTOR
Bryan earned his MDiv degree from the Master's Seminary in the spring of 2008. Shortly thereafter, he and a team of 10 others helped plant Cornerstone Church in Jackson, WY in which he and his wife Ashley served from 2008 through 2019. While at Cornerstone Church, he was ordained as an elder from 2015 to 2019 and primarily served as the Children's Ministries Pastor. After several years of difficult health circumstances with his wife and family, in 2022 God brought him to Heber City to serve the Lord at Grace Bible Church as a staff intern and now as a staff pastor at the church. The Chassards are so grateful for this precious body of believers that have become dear family to them. When he's not working, Bryan loves spending quality time with others skiing, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. The Chassards have 3 sons (Ezra, Leo, and Max) and 1 daughter, Violet.

Mike Rice

PASTOR
Mike grew up in Sacramento, CA. Just before his 21st birthday Mike became a Christian while attending Cal State University Northridge and attending Grace Community Church in San Fernando Valley. He transferred to Biola University and completed his degrees in music and Bible. He and his wife Sally were married in 2004. They own an architectural consulting company that deals with space planning, codes and constructability review of architectural plans and specifications for commercial projects. He enjoys playing golf, skiing, snowboarding, playing/teaching music, reading, and hanging out with Sally and their two saved children that serve together in ministries at HVBC. He and his family love hospitality and opportunities to serve the Body. In addition to the teaching opportunities Mike is involved with, he also serves as the HVBC worship leader.

Joshua Kozak

PASTOR
Joshua has served on the church board since 2020 and was ordained as an elder in 2023. He began his seminary studies at The Master’s Seminary and now continues his training at Shepherds Theological Seminary in the Mdiv program. He serves in multiple capacities including the preaching ministry, men's ministry, and teen ministry. He and his wife, Claudia, have three children, whom they homeschool together. Outside the church, Joshua and Claudia are known for their fitness ministry through HASfit, where they seek to serve others and reflect the light of Christ in the world (Matthew 5:16).
WHY A PLURALITY

Shepherds, not CEOs.

The New Testament knows nothing of a one-man show. The apostles appointed elders—always plural—in every church they planted (Acts 14:23). Paul left Titus in Crete to “appoint elders in every town” (Titus 1:5). The biblical pattern is clear: each local congregation is shepherded by a plurality of qualified men, each accountable to the others and to the church.
At Heber Valley Bible Church, our elders meet regularly to pray, study, plan, counsel, and bear together the spiritual weight of the congregation. They are not paid CEOs; they are servants of Christ and His church. See our Article on Biblical Eldership.
OUR DEACONS & MINISTRY LEADERS

Servants who make the ministry of the Word possible.

The office of deacon was instituted by the apostles in Acts 6, when the practical needs of the early church threatened to crowd out the ministry of the Word. The apostles set apart men of good reputation to oversee those needs—so that the elders could give themselves to “prayer and the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6:4).
Our deacons serve the body in just this way—caring for benevolence, hospitality, maintenance, finances, and the practical life of the congregation. They are qualified men (1 Tim. 3:8–13), called and confirmed by the church, who give themselves to making the work of the elders possible.
